Not all animals get second chances;
we make sure they do.
Who We Are
YMM ARC began with two friends helping local strays in the Fort McMurray #468 First Nation community. What started as a small, informal effort grew out of necessity, as we repeatedly encountered animals falling through the cracks in a northern region with limited support.
Over time, our efforts expanded because that gap never fully closed. Today, what began in a home has evolved into a nonprofit supporting communities throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and beyond.
Our rescued animals are placed in loving foster homes while awaiting their forever families. We provide medical care, food, socialization and plenty of love and support during this transition. None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers and foster families, whose commitment ensures every animal receives the care they need.
Our work is driven by the belief that every life matters. Many of the animals we take in have faced difficult beginnings, but through patience, and compassion, they are given a second chance at a happy life.
“It was not something we set out to build, but it became something that needed to exist.”
Our Mission, Vision and Values
Our mission is to improve the lives of stray, neglected, abandoned, and surrendered animals by providing care, shelter, and pathways to permanent homes, while fostering a compassionate community.
We envision a world where every animal is safe, healthy, and cherished, with access to loving homes and communities that prioritize their well-being.
