Adoption Process

At YMM ARC, our priority is finding safe, stable, and loving homes for every animal in our care. Our adoption process is designed to support both the animal and the adopter, helping ensure a good long-term match.

Many of the animals in our care come from difficult or unknown situations, so we may not always know their full medical or behavioral history. Every pet adjusts differently to a new environment, and some may need extra patience, training, or time to feel comfortable in their new home.

Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, and we encourage potential adopters to carefully consider their lifestyle, schedule, future plans, and financial responsibilities before bringing a new companion home. Providing love, stability, veterinary care, and patience helps set both you and your pet up for success.

After adoption, ongoing veterinary care and future routine expenses — including vaccinations, preventative care, and any additional medical needs — become the responsibility of the adopter.

Please note: As part of the adoption process, all adopters are required to complete our Responsible Pet Ownership and Non-Breeding Agreement.
Completion of this agreement is mandatory before finalizing an adoption.

  • A: Our adoption fee helps cover essential care such as spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, deworming, and a basic health check. You’re not just adopting a pet—you’re supporting the care of many others still waiting for a home.

  • A: We’re here to help you find the best match. Consider your lifestyle, activity level, and home environment. Our team can guide you based on each animal’s personality, energy level, and needs.

  • A: The timeline can vary, but we aim to make the process as smooth and timely as possible while ensuring the best match for both you and the animal.

  • A: Have basic supplies ready, like food, bedding, toys, and a safe space for them to settle in. Give them time, patience, and lots of love as they adjust. Our motto is the 3-3-3 rule: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to adjust, and 3 months to feel at home.

  • A: We understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned. If needed, we ask that you return the animal to us so we can find them another suitable home.

  • A: Many of our animals have been assessed for compatibility with kids and other pets. We’ll share everything we know about their behavior so you can make an informed decision.

  • A: All known medical information is disclosed before adoption. Some animals may require ongoing care, and we’ll make sure you understand their needs.

  • A: Some are, and some may still be learning. We’ll let you know what stage they’re at and offer tips to help with a smooth transition at home.
